Who we care for
Here at Qualia Care our mission is to provide high-quality, affordable care for those in need. We believe that everyone requiring care deserves to receive individualised care and support, which promotes their health and well-being.
We provide quality care for people living with a dementia or a related condition, and for those requiring palliative and end-of-life care.
How we care
Whatever stage of their lives people are at when they come to one of our homes, we see them thrive best when they maintain close relationships with their families, friends and the wider community.
Where providing care for people who have only a short time to live, or are in the process of their lives ending, we deliver the highest possible standards of dignity and respect, creating the quietness and space that allows for intimate and precious family moments.
While we do not consider dementia to be a terminal condition in the accepted sense, we recognise that in the final stages of many dementias, adopting a palliative approach is the most humane form of respect we can offer.
Types of care
We provide a range of care and specialist services, tailored to meet residents’ needs. We offer personal care (residential care), dementia care, nursing care, respite care, palliative care and end-of-life care. We place a keen emphasis on enriching the lives of residents in all our facilities. We ensure every resident receives the personalised and responsive care, treatment and support they need.
Personal care (residential care)
We provide quality personal care, formally known as residential care (no assessed nursing needs) in our care homes for older people requiring residential living, and who require support with the day-to-day activities of living, such as dressing, bathing, engaging or taking medication. We ensure kind, thoughtful caring is at hand whenever needed. Our facilities, service excellence and trained care staff promote the independence, health, safety and well-being of each individual resident. We provide a range of life-enriching activities and occupations, and actively support the families and friends of those living in all our facilities.
We’re registered to provide quality, evidence-based nursing care for people assessed as having nursing needs, who require ongoing nursing care and support. Our team of skilled and fully-qualified nurses are committed to providing 24-hour nursing care, maintaining the health, well-being and dignity of each resident.
We provide specialist care, nursing and/or personal care for people living with a dementia or related condition. Our care for those living with a dementia is delivered by specifically-trained and supported carers, who are experienced in identifying and understanding the unique opportunities and difficulties that those living with a dementia, their families and friends may experience. Our facilities are adapted to provide a safe, enhanced environment intended to maximise independence, reduce stress and promote health and well-being.
We provide specialist palliative care for people living with life-threatening illness and for those who live with an advanced dementia, related condition, or are in the last six months of life. Our skilled palliative care nurse practitioners and their teams makes each resident feel as comfortable as possible, assisting in the relieving of pain and other distressing and disabling symptoms. We provide physical, psychological, social and spiritual support for residents, their family and friends and we provide ongoing, active support for our care teams.
We provide high-quality end-of-life care that helps people live as well as possible and to die with dignity. Our experienced care teams work sensitively to support residents, to address needs and fulfil their personal wishes and goals; supporting family, carers and friends. Our care homes that offer an end-of-life service undertake vigorous internal and external assessment and are either accredited, or in the process of becoming, accredited with the industry recognised Gold Standards Framework award.
We provide respite care (also known as short-stay care) that allows families and friends who provide ongoing care to have a break and take some well-deserved time off. Thanks to our suitably trained, caring and friendly staff, carers can have peace of mind knowing that their friend, relative or loved one is in safe hands; receiving the right care, with equal access to the homes services and facilities. Our respite care is tailored to each individual’s needs, and whether for a few days or a few weeks, we are committed to helping all who stay with us feel welcome and have a positive care experience.
Young Disabled People’s Care (YDP)
Empowering residential care for people aged 18-65 with physical and/or learning needs arising from disability, accident or illness that cannot be met by existing universal or specialist services alone.
Gold Standards Framework
As part of our commitment to quality care, all of our care locations that provide end-of-life care and support as a primary service seek to apply for, achieve and maintain the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) award.
GSF is a systematic, evidence-based approach to optimising care for all patients approaching the end of life, delivered by generalist care providers. This includes care:
• For people considered to be at any stage in the final years of life
• For people with any condition or diagnosis
• For people in any setting, in whichever bed they are in
• Provided by anyone in health or social care
• At any time needed
