Residents and staff at Millfield Care Home turned everything pink to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Staff were encouraged to wear something pink to work and paid £1 for the privilege. All money raised will be donated to the charity Breast Cancer Now, which organised the national ‘wear it pink’ fundraising event.
The event culminated with residents and relatives enjoying afternoon tea and cakes in the reception and listening to ‘big band’ Music.
Manager Lance Tipper says: “A great day was had by all staff, residents and relatives with a variety of fund raising activities taking place. Even the visiting tradesman joined in by wearing pink!
“We’d like to say a big thank you to Janet Johnson and Susie Simpson from the activities team and all the staff who dressed up and encouraged residents to also ‘wear pink’. They raised the fantastic amount of £175.”
Millfield has hosted a number of events in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, including a donations box in reception and a guess the winning item.
Staff from Summit Unit won a box of chocolates for the extra effort they put into making the event so successful for their residents.
