Mince pies and Mother Goose help residents to get into the Christmas spirit.
Residents of St Mary’s Nursing Home in the Greater Manchester suburb of Moston have been enjoying a packed calendar of festive events.
November included a trip to the local pub for lunch and a beach-themed afternoon in the garden room with fish and chips, ice cream and seaside music.
December began in style with a Christmas tree and decorations day in which residents were encouraged to help deck the halls. A few days later came a trip to a pantomime – Mother Goose – followed by a Christmas party day with a buffet for all residents, and entertainment from old time rock and rollers Glen’s Girls.
Mince pies and mulled wine continued the festive feel in the run-up to the big day.
The Christmas party wasn’t the first time Glen’s Girls had performed at St Mary’s. They were returning after a successful show in November – at which a visiting local authority inspector joined in the singing and dancing!
